Olympique Marseille vs. Toulouse

Brandão's equaliser in the closing stages cancelled out a Moussa Sissoko opener for TFC.

This match sprang to life after just eight minutes when Toulouse goalkeeper Yohann Pelé was shown a straight red card for bringing down Mamadou Niang on the edge of the penalty area. TFC coach Alain Casanova responded by taking off midfielder, Paulo Machado, and bringing on reserve goalkeeper Olivier Blondel.

With the numerical advantage, Marseille should have gone on to dominate the contest, but André-Pierre Gignac came close at the other end with a shot that flashed just past the upright before forcing a decent save out of Stève Mandanda after being supplied by Etienne Didot.

At the other end, Blondel was seriously tested for the first time midway through the first period by a stinging Lucho Gonzalez strike from distance.

The opening goal arrived just before the half-hour, and it was an effort worthy of the very highest level. Moussa Sissoko unleashed a superb strike from a free-kick that gave Mandanda no chance and put the ten men into the lead.

Blondel was in inspired form, and it was the same story at the start of the second period, as he saved from Valbuena after the little midfielder had brilliantly brought down a Gabriel Heinze cross.

Just as it seemed as though the visitors had weathered the storm and would head back from the Mediterranean with the three points, OM got an equaliser, and Blondel was largely to blame. His poor kick landed straight at the feet of Charles Kaboré. He played in Bakari Koné, and the Ivorian crossed for Brandão, who finished acrobatically.
