PSG vs. Nancy

The opening ten minutes were dominated by the hosts, with Peguy Luyindula having a shot deflected into the side netting in the first minute and Guillaume Hoarau flicking a header wide from the resultant corner. However, against the run of play on 13 minutes Youssouf Hadji struck for the visitors, bounding in unmarked at the back post to convert an Issiar Dia centre from the left.

PSG would quickly strike back, and did so in typical style. Hoarau flicked the ball to Luyindula with his head, and though the nippy front player was denied by Gennaro Bracigliano initially, there was no stopping Stephane Sessegnon scoring his first goal of the season on the follow up.

Even after the equalising goal, PSG looked the more dangerous outfit. A centre from Jeremy Clement picked out Luyindula, whose shot beat Bracigliano but not Reynald Lemaitre, who had stationed himself on the line.

Having dominated the first half only to remain level, the early signs were that PSG were to be equally frustrated in the second period. A clever backheel from Sessegnon nearly released Giuly in the box, while the former Barcelona midfielder had a strong shot blocked by Nancy soon after.

The second half had little of the excitement of the first, with a succession of half chances never really testing either goalkeeper. Christophe Jallet was brought on to add late impetus to the home side, but his effort after 80 minutes flew narrowly past.

On the counter, Alfred Ndiaye might have stolen the game for Nancy, but his late drive only narrowly cleared the home post.
